Chicago

This past weekend was the trip to Chicago. The point of the trip was a bachelor/bachelorette party in Greek Town for my brother and his fiance. 12 of us ended up going.

My flight was supposed to leave Omaha at 4:55pm, but didn't end up leaving until after 7. It all worked out really well, though. I was the only one in the group on my flight and 4 others were leaving on the next flight after me. We ended up leaving within 10 minutes of each other and all our bags came on the same baggage claim in Chicago. We found some Lebanese guy who said his name was Mark to take us all downtown to our apartments for $75.

No gremlins on the wing.

The apartments we had were great. This apartment building was on Ontario Street. They were furnished one bedroom apartments with great views. The apartment I was in was on the 8th floor so we didn't have the best view, so I took pictures from the apartment my brother was in on the 32nd floor.

The apartment:

Here is one of the view from the 8th floor. The low building in front has a CBS Chicago sign on it.

32nd floor. You can see sort of see Lake Michigan through the buildings.

Friday night after we all got in we went to a tapas bar for Sangria and tapas. The beef tenderloin skewer with carmelized onion and horseradish sauce was outstanding. I drank too much sangria. I didn't have my camera with me so I took a shitty picture with my phone

Saturday morning I woke up about 9 and headed out for shopping. I figured everybody else was still asleep so I didn't call anybody. I caught hell for that later when I found out another girl was up and waiting for somebody to head out with. It was raining and cold, but the walk to the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue wasn't too bad, just a few blocks.

Shopping was ok, but pretty much the only stuff I could afford, I can buy in Omaha. $1500 for a purse seems a bit much to me. I have one pic on Michigan Avenue, again from my phone. Not too exciting.

The best part about Saturday afternoon was the late lunch we ate at Gino's East. I had a piece of deep dish spinach and cheese and a piece of deep dish Gino's East Supreme with sausage. I actually only made it about half way through the piece of cheese and spinach before I couldn't eat any more. The Supreme was really good and rather than crumbled sausage it just had one big sausage patty that covered the whole pizza. My brother, who watches too much Food TV, informed all of us that the reason the cheese is on the bottom is because the pizzas have to cook so long, the cheese would burn. Good to know.

Spinach and cheese with mushroom and onion (and part of the crust from the supreme):

I took this one from the table:

Saturday night was when the party really kicked in, but I think that's going to be it's own post.
