Stalled by a cold

I went to the gym today for the first time in 9 days. I've been fighting a chest cold so I haven't been working out. My food hasn't been very good either. When I get sick, I get HUNGRY. On the worst day of my cold, I went to town on some Chinese food. No, I didn't eat any rice or any other obvious carbs, but I know the sauces are made with corn starch. When I say "went to town", I mean I went to town and spent the night. Over the course of an evening, I ate beef with broccoli, beef with vegetable, chicken teriyaki, hot and sour soup and then I ate the filling of 2 egg rolls. My stomach felt so bad, I forgot that I couldn't breathe.

Anyway, I was not really looking forward to getting on the scale, but I did. No loss, but no gain either. I'm still down 41 pounds and that is great. I know I'm still moving in the right direction, too, because tonight I was walking up a flight of stairs with my laundry and my pants started falling down!! I had to stop and hitch them up.

I bought a bag of chips this weekend for the first time in 4 months. I was dog sitting for my dad this weekend and in the pantry was a half eaten bag of Lays potato chips. I found myself obsessing about that bag of chips. If it had been brand new and not open, I would have been fine, but the temptation to sneak a few was strong. I threw it out. Far be it for me to stop anybody else from eating chips, though. This morning I went and bought them a new bag before they came home.

I shouldn't have just out of spite. I was out walking the dog yesterday and one of my dad's neighbors calls out to me "Hi Niki! Your dad tells me you are on a diet! Looking good!"
Oh, the humiliation.

Dude, you threw out someone else's chips!!! You should have at least fed them to the dog.
