Fast food

I have 2 goals for the coming week. The first one is that I am going to make it to the gym before work at least one day. My target day is Wednesday.

My second goal for the week is no fast food. Lately, I've found myself going through a drive through 2 or 3 times a week. I'm making decent choices - plain baked potato, chili, plain grilled chicken sandwich, salads - but I think it's unnecessary. Last weekend I cooked up a big batch of chicken and that helped me stay away from fast food except for one day last week. I'm determined to stay away completely this week.

With that goal in mind and the current temperature of 22 degrees F, I am making chili! I never use a recipe when I make chili, so it's never quite the same, but I think that adds to it. Chili is forgiving, and hard to screw up. Today I used the crock pot:

2 lbs very lean ground beef, browned
1/2 red onion, chopped
1/2 sweet onion, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
1 yellow pepper, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
(these peppers were small)
1 can diced tomatoes
2 cans chili beans
1 can black beans
1 packet salt free (gotta watch that blood pressure) chili spice

I'm sure this is blasphemous to some chili purists.

Breakfast today was 7 mini prunes and a blueberry protein shake. Mmmmm...antioxidants.

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 scoop protein powder
1 cup frozen blueberries
